Jayden Gonzalez died when his car collided with another vehicle at the intersection of Baldwin and Lounsbury Streets in Waterbury around 2:15 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 10, according to authorities. The other driver remains in critical condition, though police have not provided updates.
Jayden, a Sacred Heart High School graduate, shone on the football field and carried his love of sports into his life as a devoted Patriots and Yankees fan, his family shared in his obituary.
The Waterbury man worked at Target while pursuing a psychology degree at Central Connecticut State University, where he was set to graduate in June 2025.
Despite his achievements, Jayden remained grounded, proud of his roots, and deeply connected to his loved ones.
What meant the most to Jayden however was his family. As a member of a large family, Jayden cherished each and every moment spent with those he loved, especially his parents, siblings and friends. He had a generous heart and practiced unconditional love. His legacy and love will live on in his family. Jayden was an individual who touched so many with great kindness.
He leaves behind his father and stepmother, 10 siblings, and multiple nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members.
A funeral was scheduled for Saturday morning, Nov. 16, in Waterbury.
Waterbury Police are investigating the crash.
